South Fremantle vs Subiaco Reserves
Written by Simonette Cox
On a humid Saturday night, Subiaco were challenged by a strong South Fremantle side both mentally and physically. South Fremantle look extremely confident before the game and coming off premierships with both League & Reserves in 2009 it was going to be a battle. We finished with a very good win by 13 points. With Chris Phelan, Courtney Moores, Tim Viney and Steve Martin back into the side, the mix with Josh Hunt, Ryan Smith and Brad Stevenson showed and the team effort was outstanding and certainly a real positive leading into what is going to be an exciting season.
It was the intensity and the pressure applied by all players was to the coaching staff.
With a 2 goal lead at half time, South Fremantle started to apply scoreboard pressure and took the lead. It was satisfying to see our boys fight back and to go into the break a few points in front.
The last quarter produced an exciting brand of football by both sides as the lead changed several times, before back to back goals by Chris Phelan and Stephen Martin sealed the game with minutes to play.
Before the game we discussed how we wanted to execute our game plan and to the boys credit they played like that for the entire game which was an improvement on the previous games.
Our next game is Round 2 v West Perth on 27th at Medibank Stadium so please come down and support the boys.
