SUBIACO RETAIN THE MAYORS CUP

E-mail Print PDF
Saturday was Subiaco’s last home game for the 2008 home and away season and it was great to see all three grades come away with a win against East Perth.

At the conclusion of the League game the Mayor’s Cup was presented to Subiaco’s Captain, Marc Webb by the Town of Vincent Mayor, Nick Catania.

Mayor Catania also opened the completion of the redevelopment work at Medibank Stadium prior to the League game in a function hosted by Subiaco.

The redevelopment started back in 2002 when the East Perth Football Club were relocated into the old facilities formerly occupied by West Perth Football Club.

In 2003 considerable work was undertaken to refurbish East Perth’s administration area and the change rooms on the lower level of the grandstand. Concurrent to this work was the construction of new offices and social facility for the Subiaco Football Club, who relocated in December 2003.

The installation of match standard lighting, resurfacing of the car park, nets behind the goals and many more minor projects was also undertaken.

In 2005 the Department of Sport and Recreation building was completed and 2006 and 2007 we saw the redevelopment of the Loftus Centre, with the completion of the landscaping works on the eastern banks of the stadium earlier this year.

The eastern bank has been developed into tiered steps where families and spectators can enjoy the comfort of the grassed area, a new electronic scoreboard has been installed and upgrades to the grand stand have occurred.

All of these upgrades and re-developments make the WAFL experience at Medibank Stadium more enjoyable for all the Subiaco and East Perth supporters.

The Subiaco and East Perth Football Clubs thank the Town of Vincent for its commitment to the community sport and in particular Australian football for providing a first class facility to play WAFL football.
